I'm using Ulead Video Studio 10 and Windows Movie Maker. I managed to get it going with WMM but the audio is horrible and the picture isn't all that great.

Going to be picking up an HD recording device in the coming weeks to make it easier to record tutorials in flat 60fps (I'd been using the PC version and FRAPS while running medium model quality previously) and also recording hella match videos. Being on the go is not really a problem, my desktop computer will be set up right by my Xbox 360 -- also don't really need to stream anything, seeing as my internet cannot handle streaming and playing online simultaneously.

The Blackmagic is running around $185 and I could pick it up now, and the Hauppauge is like $210, and was my original choice because of ease of use and it being an external device (just in case I took it anywhere else to record/stream if I got the gear somewhere down the line). My question is really just if these two devices are comparable feature and quality-wise? Is one more hardware intensive than the other, which has the easier excepted format for cross-program-editing, etc. I use Sony Vegas Pro 8 and Adobe After Effects CS4 for my editing, and I know the Hauppauge raw format works in Vegas.

Does the Black Magic take HDMI? Hauppauge doesn't.

I have the Hauppauge at present, but I just realised my laptop has an express card slot, so I'm going to buy the matrox mxo2 next week.

The black magic does take HDMI but I think the Matrox MXO2 is the way to go if you have a laptop.

Let me know how the Matrox works out for you. I heard you cant stream from HDMI due to copyright protection but I could be wrong.

That said, anyone using Mac and a Video Down converter who is wondering how to create a 16:9 Widescreen stream, let me know. I can post up the details.

Got the Matrox, but the whole thing crashes my Dell XPS laptop when it is plugged in and I try to run the Matrox AV tools program, or FME. Going to contact Matrox today and ask for help.

OK, I formatted my laptop, the Matrox was crashing my system because of a problem with the driver for my USB memory slot. Now to work out how to use the thing.

For those of you who use the SVID2USB2 device (pictured below) in windows, it is now possible to stream, sending audio straight into the device itself.

If you go to startech.com and download the drivers for the device, audio works just fine :) Install, reboot and then plug in the device and the new drivers will run.

So I'm looking at picking up this nifty little piece of hardware so I can get some matches and other various video goodies up for your viewing and critiquing pleasure! Any nay-says about it? I'm not worried about quality beyond comprehensible for what I have planned in the near future and any larger projects I would look into getting a better quality set up.

I'm assuming since SSFIV has that replay network I won't have to worry about any lag delay while recording so just going straight from my 360 into the ezcap then to my pc and would work fine because I would get the display up on my monitor via the software so I could navigate menus, right?

I own one of those. I have it for SF4 and MvC2 and it works great. It's not HD mind you, but if you tweak the video settings to your liking, it won't matter. Also, one issue with it is the audio. It won't work on my computer, but it would probably work on yours. So, I just got a red/white audio to microphone jack extension and it works great.

It's cheap, but effective. I would like an HD recorder myself, but I'm OK with this for now.
