Record & Stream Footage from your 360 & PS3

Hmmm that is odd... I have read on the uStream forums that windows users have had issues with the audio when it comes to USB Capture devices... I cant find the specific threads but you may want to check it out..

http://www.ustream.tv/forum/

what I do is instead of using the capture device, I run RCA to 8th Inch from my mixer and that seems to work best. You should be able to just click computer line in from the ustream console.

Of course, post the video!

My friend is a radio DJ and has three mixers, so he loaned me one. I used to DJ a bit when we were all teenagers

Hey guys I just updated this thread with a quick writeup on live streaming on a budget! It will be in this same thread - 4th post. I hope this is useful to those who are considering to stream with the least amount of money possible.

First I want to say thanks, this thread is very helpful. I have a couple of questions though.

I want to record aswell as stream video, but mostly stream. Im looking into buying Black Magic Intensity Pro card.

The reason why I want this card is because I use HDMI for both my 360 and PS3 and I dont really want to go to component cables.

I also want to get a HDMI splitter so I can have 2 signals. One going to the PC for streaming/recording and the other directly to my tv. I was looking into getting this splitter.

What Im afraid of is theres going to be signal lag going from the splitter to my tv. Since I know you have experience on this, what are you suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

I dont have an answer for the lag question, but understand you have to capture from PS3 and 360 using component cables anyway. HDMI has HDCP which means there is copy protection on the signals so you cant record them. Component does not have this so thats why you have to use component.

Hope that helps.

Hey Haunts, great article! But the setup I'm trying to work with is a little different.

The connection that I'm trying to go for is as follows:

PS3 --> Distribution Amplifier --> Component to Composite Down Converter ---------
------> EZCap Video Capture --> Computer

The video editing program is Ulead VideoStudio SE DVD.

Now I have everything but the Down Converter so:

1)Is this a good setup for HD recording?

2)Where can I find the cheapest Down Converter out there?

That will only allow you to record in SD. You need some sort of HD recording device such as the hauppauge, matrox or black magic card to record in HD. The EZCap will only record in SD...

As far as downconverters, the one I listed is the one I own. It works really well and the price is fair. You might find something similar for 10-20 bucks cheaper but I can say that the Atlona Downconverter works great! There are some pricier ones with more options to adjust colors and brightness but probably not a big deal for stuff like this.

Yeah well, the only problem is I'm on a real strict budget, and can't afford a HD recording device. Thanks for the help though.
